*We are privileged to release the Apolis + FABRIC Auckland Market Bag, exclusively sold at FABRIC in Auckland, New Zealand. This is our 16th Local + Global project, connecting regional retailers with our global advocacy and helping to create consistent employment for artisans in rural Bangladesh.

In 2006 I studied business at Auckland University of Technology. Besides the incredible education, I enjoyed crossing paths with a number of Kiwis that to this day continue to be close friends. A couple inividuals that I met during my visit were the propreiters of Auckland's FABRIC shop, Martin Andrews & Leon Vince. We we first crossed paths I shared our Apolis vision over a couple of t-shirts and they promised to keep an eye on our progress. When we re-connected in 2012 and introduced them to our Market Bag city series, they immediately voiced interest in collaborating on an Auckland Market Bag. In March, Leon visited Los Angeles and graciously shared years of brick and mortar expierence with me over an espresso while I walked him through Apolis: Common Gallery. Spending time with Leon reminded me what a privilege it is to form product partnerships with close friends. 

My love for New Zealand runs deep mainly because of the pristine coastlines, rugged landscapes and an overall natural beauty giving the country the moniker: “God’s Own Country.” The commercial center, Auckland, is a coastal city located on an isthmus and is conducive to the outdoor lifestyle embraced by the 1.5 million residents. Activities in Auckland include sailing, hiking, and the national obsession, rugby.

Leon & Martin's shop, FABRIC, has two retail locations. Their downtown location is located on High Street and is surrounded by high fashion shops and incredible eateries, making the area a must-see for tourists and locals alike. The Newmarket location is in a neighborhood considered the fashion capital of New Zealand, but also offers outdoor dining, “ten pin bowling,” and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

We're grateful for the history & friendship we share with FABRIC and are excited to present our first Local + Global Market Bag in the country of New Zealand.

Rika Magazine

*Rika Magazine is the brain child of Amsterdam based designer Ulrika Lundgren, who is the force behind the clothing brand RIKA and this Magazine of same name.   Launched in 2010 identity, art direction and design were a must for the semi-annual magazine, including a custom Rika typeface and a hand-painted display face that changes with each issue. Each issue is printed with multiple covers, to reflect the eclectic and diverse inspirations behind the brand and the collections. The magazine has had contributors such as Vanina Sorrenti, Olivier Zahm, Blaise Reutersward, Liz Collins, Laetitia Crahay, Marc Hom, Helena Christensen, Leith Clark and Robert Rydberg.  Rika Magazine $26 available now at FABRIC.  Click 'View More' for more cover photos and content.
